This course will cover the structure and function of the human body including body positions and planes, organization, homeostasis, cell and tissue function, review of the entire body by systems. It is structured to meet our prerequisite requirements and prepare you for any direct entry midwifery program.
This course is designed to be completed in 12-weeks via our online platform. Students will be able to move through the content at their own pace, with several live sessions with fellow classmates and the instructor as well as access to recorded lectures.
Describe the structural organization of the human body
Explain the structure and function of cells and tissues
Identify the process of homeostasis in physiology
Define body positions, planes, directional terms and abdominal regions
Identify organs in each abdominal quadrant
Explain the structure, function, major organs, diseases, disorders and preventive measures for each body system

Upon completion of this 3 credit course, students will be granted a certificate of completion through Commonsense Childbirth Institute. Students seeking to use this course to meet a prerequisite for a program other than the Commonsense Childbirth School of Midwifery programs should check with their desired program about accepting this course.
